Beavercreek Athlete Makes the GRADE
DAYTON, Ohio January 28, 2010 – The next 2010 winner of the Penn Station Athlete of
the Month is Chris Glynn. Chris is being awarded for his outstanding athleticism in
wrestling. Chris not only dominates in the high school sports world but he also excels in
the classroom with a 4.3 grade point average at Beavercreek High School. He plans to
attend Ohio University and double major in Sports Management and Business.
On and off the field, Chris is a great addition to the community. Chris is a member of the
Chinese Club, Link Crew, DIRTT, Raider Wrestling Club, and Varsity Wrestling. For
Chris, being a part of high school sports has taught him “the values of hard work,
perseverance and self-discipline that are needed to succeed in life.” Gary Wise,
Beavercreek High School’s Wrestling Coach, said, “Chris is extremely responsible and
reliable.”
In honor of Chris’s achievement as the Athlete of the Month, Penn Station will reward
him with gifts, including a $500 grant towards Beavercreek High School’s Athletic
Department. His picture will be hung in all Dayton area Penn Station restaurants,
personalized coupons will be provided for the entire student body, and he will be in the
running towards a $5,000 college scholarship to be awarded at the end of the school year.
“Chris is a leader and a positive influence in our Dayton community. We are proud to be
a part of his future,” says John Dorger, Managing Owner of Penn Station Dayton.
Nearly 11 years ago, Penn Station launched the “Athlete of the Month” program to
showcase the extraordinary student athletes in Dayton. Since then, Penn Station East
Coast Subs has awarded nearly $100,000 in award money and college scholarships.
Ninety-two students have received “Athlete of the Month” recognition and ten have been
